Javier Cisneros

Full-Stack Software Engineer

I build web applications, from the first technical discussion through production.

Based in Guadalajara, Mexico. I've worked remotely with clients, vendors, and engineering teams across North America.

Work

Some projects and the decisions behind them.

Savings platform for 6,000+ members

A cross-platform savings application designed for a credit union serving more than 6,000 members.

Read case study

I took the application from technical discovery through production support, working across the client, AWS, online banking, and core banking systems.

Authentication and financial data had to move between our application, an external online banking platform, internal APIs, and the core banking system.

I used Cognito as the authentication and authorization boundary for the systems connected to the application.

  1. Online banking
  2. Savings application
  3. Internal API
  4. Core banking

The application brought savings functionality into online banking while meeting the security and compliance requirements of the connected financial systems.

React, TypeScript, Node.js, Python, API Gateway, Cognito, DynamoDB

Embedded online banking integration

A third-party financial product embedded inside an existing online banking application.

Read case study

I led the production launches and managed the authentication workflow between the online banking platform and the embedded application.

The product ran in an iframe, and third-party cookie restrictions broke session creation in some browsers, particularly on Apple devices using WebKit.

I reproduced the failures across browsers, traced them to the cookie dependency, and worked with the vendor to change how sessions were created. I also advised the vendor on authentication for its server-rendered application.

  1. Online banking
  2. Platform SDK
  3. Embedded application
  4. Vendor service

The product launched inside online banking with an authentication and session approach that didn't depend on third-party cookies.

Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Server-side rendering, iframe messaging

Time reporting for 50+ employees

A serverless application that replaced manual time reporting for more than 50 employees.

Read case study

I built the application and moved the team from separate manual reports to one shared workflow.

Employees worked across time zones, countries, and roles. Project managers, accounting, billing, and leadership each needed a different level of reporting detail.

Rather than reproduce each department's manual process, I worked with stakeholders and employees to define one centralized weekly workflow.

  1. Employees
  2. Time application
  3. Project managers
  4. Accounting and billing
  5. Leadership

The application reduced manual reporting time by 50% at launch and by 75% within six months while reducing errors and improving reporting accuracy.

React, Node.js, Cognito, AWS Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, PostgreSQL

Tianguiza: mapping Guadalajara's street markets

A public Progressive Web App for finding street markets by location, day, and category.

Read case study

I worked on a three-person team and built the search, category filters, vendor and market registration forms, and OpenStreetMap integration. I also handled the Vercel and Neon deployments.

Information about street markets was fragmented across informal sources. The application needed to organize locations, schedules, categories, markets, and vendors without making discovery feel like a database search.

We used a relational PostgreSQL model for the market data and combined filters with an OpenStreetMap interface so people could search by how they actually choose a market: place, day, or category.

  1. Residents and visitors
  2. Search and filters
  3. Market records
  4. OpenStreetMap

We shipped the application as a responsive PWA, deployed it publicly, and distributed it through Google Play.

React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, PostgreSQL, Drizzle ORM, OpenStreetMap, React Leaflet

Other work

Smaller production systems I've built or maintained.

Treasury check verification

Integrated a U.S. Treasury API through AWS Lambda to identify mismatched, previously paid, or potentially invalid checks.

Production fee remediation

Built a Python and Lambda process that corrected fee-related records for more than 200 credit union members.

Financial operations tools

Built tools for member maintenance, transaction search, share conversion, and loan workflows that reduced tellers' workloads and manual steps.

Reporting and automation

Maintained scheduled AWS jobs for reports and recurring internal work, using .NET and MySQL connected to Snowflake.

Tools I use

The stack I use most is React, TypeScript, Node.js, and AWS.

Cloud: Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito, DynamoDB, RDS, EventBridge, VPC, serverless architecture

Application: React, Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, REST APIs

Also: Python, C#/.NET, SQL, IaC, CI/CD
